Ghanaian artist JOJO ABOT possesses a signature sound created by experimental blend of traditional and contemporary styles. Her colorful image in music, fashion, photography, and visual art is crafted with both traditional and futuristic modes in mind. Her debut EP, Fyfya Woto, centers around the intergenerational ties that bind women together. Also a visual artist, JOJO ABOT expresses herself through film/photography, literature and performance art. JOJO ABOT has recently toured as supporting slot in Lauryn Hill’s tour, and will continue to do so until Fall 2017.
“Her voice is what immediately captivates, with sharpened edges and an intensity akin to Björk, the soulful, intimate depth of Erykah Badu and the ease of Sister Nancy. She experiments somewhere in between jazz, neo-soul, house, reggae, gospel and dancehall, crafting her own unique, innovative sound.”” — AfroPop
